Radical RXC Set For Public Debut at Salon Prive

Radical RXC-1

British sports car maker Radical will be unveiling its new RXC model to the public at this year’s Salon Prive show in September. Radical, for those who don’t know, is a small firm specializing in track cars and  racing machines. The RXC is their first ever closed-cockpit model.

The RXC intends to allow customers to enjoy the same thrill and excitement of a prototype Le Mans racer in a smaller, much more affordable package. I uses pretty much the same engineering principles as the LMP1 monsters, and features the same sort of aerodynamics properties.

You can think of the RXC as a diet Le Man car. It is powered by a 3.7-litre 24-valve V6 unit with twin-independent variable cam timing and sequential multi-port electronic injection, controlled by a bespoke Radical/AER Life engine management system. This system has proved its worth in the SR3 SL roadster. Powered is delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed gearbox.

The body of the RXC is made from a blend of carbon fiber and composite materials. Lightness, in fact, has always been a key factor is the awesome performance of Radical cars. That justifies the lack of any luxury amenity whatsoever. This is, after all, a track car. It’s basically a toy. It also comes with gullwing doors, which are kinda cool.
