Corvette Stingray Quarter Mile 600x350 at Corvette Stingray Quarter Mile Test by Hennessey

Hennessey Performance is currently hard at work developing a couple of tuning packages for the new 2014 Corvette Stingray with up to 100 horsepower and beyond. But before they get to business they needed to know what the capabilities of the standard C7 are. So first thing they took it to the drag strip.

So without any further ado, let’s join the action:

12.23 seconds at 114 mph is the Corvette Stingray quarter mile record, which is pretty damn good by anyone’s standard for a stock sports car with lots of leather and infotainment and, street tires. But it is not enough for a Hennessey-powered one. When the Texan tuner is through with this car it’ll be able to do it in the 10s. Hennessey is planning to turbocharge the hell out of that LT1 V8 and fit it with sportier suspension, brakes, wheels and tires. Watch this space!
