As expected, it didn’t take long for the independent designers to add their own touches to the new Lamborghini Asterion hybrid, only hours after its global debut. Earlier today we showed renderings of the car in four different colors, now check out a wide body version of it.

The Lamborghini Asterion wide body you see here is penned by renowned artist Jon Sibal, who says the car is depicted here in “Battle Mode,” by which he probably refers to the military-style camo wrap it appears to be wearing.

Obviously, Sibal’s wide body Asterion looks 110 percent cooler than Lamborghini’s own effort, what with the massively flared wheel arches, quad tailpipes, and that sweet ducktail spoiler. This stuff can make any car look awesome. But it would be unreasonable to expect this from Lamborghini themselves.

Asterion is a concept with which Lamborghini is announcing to the world they are ready to grow up and operate in tune with the times. The fact that the design of the car is so sober and that it boasts a hybrid drivetrain point to this rather sad truth. Lambo would not be able to survive making crazy stuff anymore. They need to introduce some sort of method to their madness.

That is all the more reason to enjoy the lunacy of this virtual Lamborghini Asterion wide body. 910 horsepower and those looks… we do want!
