McLaren 675 LT Officially Confirmed

Confirming a report last week claiming that McLaren will introduce a new model at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the British super car firm has now released the first teaser picture for the McLaren 675 LT.

Calling McLaren 675 LT a ‘new’ product may be a bit of a stretch, since it is only a more hard-core, more track-focused version of the 650S. As mentioned previously, the LT is an homage to the McLaren F1 GTR ‘LongTail’, and it comes with optimized aerodynamics, increased downforce, driver engagement, power and reduced weight.

In spite of the suggestive name, McLaren 675 LT comes with 666 horsepower. But McLaren, being pedantic, explains that 675 is the power produced by the engine in PS, which is a slightly different method of measuring power output. The LT comes only in Coupe bodystyle.

A brief history on the LongTail name:

The iconic Longtail name made its debut during the 1997 season of sportscar racing, and saw a legendary model from McLaren on the grids around the world evolve into the most efficient race-focused version seen to-date. Rather than rest on the laurels of the highly-successful examples from the previous two seasons, which included a win on its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, McLaren moved the benchmark on further – an approach that echoes through the company to this very day. Formula 1™ knowledge and experience, and the know-how gained from the pinnacle of the sport created the purest version of a true world-beater.
