Mazda KOERU Concept Introduced at IAA

It feels like a long time ago when Mazda previewed the KOERU concept for the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the car has finally made its debut, showing the public what is next for the firm’s KODO – Soul of Motion design, especially in the SUV segment.

At first glance Mazda KOERU seems to be a more elegant take on the design language that has brought us the new Mazda2, 3 and 6 as well as CX-5. It looks muscular and full of presence and features 21-inch wheels. We especially like they have done with the front grille. Ever since the smiley face days, Mazda has been having problems with the face of their cars. But they seem to have been satisfactorily addressed in the KOERU.

The good looks of Mazda KOERU Concept are backed by SKYACTIV Technology systems including efficient driver-oriented powertrains and suspension as well as an ingeniously rigid body and chassis that enhance handling as well as safety. So what we have here, potentially, is a handsome SUV with a sporty look, efficient performance, and that magical Mazda X factor that makes their cars so much fun to drive.

It remains to be seen what Mazda has in mind for the KOERU in terms of production plans.
