The first official details and pictures of the wonderful new hot hatch Renault Twingo GT have now been released ahead of the car’s dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and market launch next winter. This little mosquito has a recipe unlike any other car you’ve ever come across.

Powering the 2017 Renault Twingo GT is a tiny 898cc Energy TCe turbo engine that churns out 110 horsepower and 170Nm torque. It’s a three-cylinder unit suitable for a city runabout which RenaultSport has tuned with revised air intake system and modified engine mapping. To help the little car cope with the fury of 110 angry horses, the GT is also equipped with revised gearing, uprated suspension, specific ESP calibration and variable-rate steering.

But the absolute biggest highlight of Renault Twingo GT, and what makes it unique, is the fact that it’s a rear-wheel-drive car. That’s right, this shoe-sized hatchback is rear-drive which means it should, in theory at least, be able to pull off spectacular powerslides. Other sporty features of the GT include 17-inch wheels, lateral air intakes, twin exhaust tail pipe and new orange body color, lowered ride height, and NACA aircraft graphics. Inside you’ll find orange trims, Renault Sport-badged doorsills, aluminium pedals and an alloy gear lever knob.
