Peugeot released pictures and details of the revised 308 hatchback, cabrio and SW estate versions ahead of official debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Clearly some of the feline styling details of the old 308 are missing!

Instead the car adopts a more grown-up look inspired by the 508 sedan and gets latest LED headlamps and running lights. That’s good, it’s small mad enough to be distinguished in a car park among other ‘ordinary’ hatchbacks.

The new Peugeot 308 also benefits form a range of highly refined and frugal petrol and diesel engines, and can even be had with Peugeot’s micro-hybrid e-HDi Stop & Start technology based on the 1.6 litre HDi FAP 112 Euro 5 diesel engine that emits only 98 grams of CO2 per 100 km. This engine option will also be available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed electronically controlled manual gearbox (EGC). This will give the New Peugeot 308 the lowest emissions in its segment

If you want performance though, you have to go for the GT Hatchback & CC which get the 1.6 litre THP engine with 200 hp and a proper manual gearbox.

2011 Peugeot 308 comes in four multi-model trim levels; Access, SR, Active and Allure. A range topping hatchback and CC THP 200 model will also be available in a single GT trim level. AS for the standard features, all trims include air conditioning, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS, EBFD, EBA, front and rear electric windows with child security, remote control central door locking with deadlocks and six SMART safety airbags.

Peugeot has also gone to enormous length to make sure the car is as efficient as possible and therefore environment friendly. Overall weight of the car is reduced by 25 kg on average on all models, they’ve been fitted with new 16” ultra low rolling resistance tyres,  all engines are optimised (VTi, THP petrol and HDi diesel engines to Euro5), and the body has a Cx of 0.28 whihc means less fuel consumption!

On sale from May 2011, Peugeot 308 has a base price of 15.800 Euro in Europe and £15,245 in UK.
