So maybe he didn’t like it that much after all! After owning his Moragn Aeromax for two years, Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond lists his beloved Malvern Hills-built British sportscar for sale.
He is asking £99,950 for it which sounds a bit steep for a car that was worth £110K when new, and was also involved in an accident! But then it benefits from the celebrity endorsement factor. The Aeromax is also a very rare car as they only made 100 units of it. The car’s powered by a 4.4-litre BMW engine with 325 bhp and top speed of 180 mph. But it looks a bit weird for those not familiar with Morgan, and that makes it a hard car to sell!
So if you like to own a car once belonged to a Top Gear legend, there’s your chance.
Amazingly, the Daily Mail finds something in this to attack Top Gear with! They’re nagging about TV license pay and how that made Top Gear and Hammond rich. It is really hard to see their point here because the show’s popularity means that they’ve actually came up with something worthwhile and valuable that license payers like. Top Gear is delivering what they’re being paid for, and then some. So yes, Hammond can afford a 100 grand car, so what?!

I happened to read the Daily Mail article as well and noticed the same thing. Apparently just reporting the sale of the car is just too boring for them. Any excuse to bash what they don’t care for, I suppose.
