Hyundai released a little bit more on the new Genesis Coupe and confirmed its some of its technical specs.
Now new pictures I’m afraid, but at least we have details of the upgraded engines here. So the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe does not get a V8, but the 3.8 liter V6 has been upgraded.
Mind you, it’s the Korean model we have here. Hyundai is yet to reveal specs of the American version.
The Lambda 3.8 MPi unit gets a fairly remarkable boost of 47ps and 4.0kg.m. which means it now churns out 350ps and maximum torque of 40.8kg.m. The Theta 2.0 TCI engine is also pumped up by 65ps and 8.0kg.m to 275ps and 38kg.m, respectively. This turbocharged engine delivers a great compromise between performance and fuel economy.
The more powerful engine however comes with Hyundai’s new eight-speed automatic transmission, bringing smoother shifting and more dynamic driving performance to the Genesis Coupe.
Another great new feature on the V6 model is a sound generator which according to Hyundai “replace the rough engine sound with a classy and sporty sound” to raise the “emotional quality.” That shows Hyundai knows its market very well.
Looks-wise, as we’ve covered it a number of times, the new Geni comes with a wider grille, sleeker head lamps, LED positioning lamps, an LED rear lights, plus some new metal accents to make it look more elegant. Inside the cabin it gets a new console with multi-gauge located on the center fascia for a more dynamic driving experience.
