This is the all-new Ford EcoSport, and if you like it you have to move to India by mid-decade.

We’re not joking, that’s what Ford is saying! The car will be launched in India in a few years, expanding Ford’s lineup of global models and increase their presence in Brazil, India, ASEAN markets and others.

It will eventually be sold in nearly 100 markets worldwide, but it’s going to take time.

It’s a shame really, because the EcoSport is a very likeable car. It is a compact crossover with a nice and funky design – just ignore that stupid spare wheel stuck to the tailgate like an 80’s Japanese SUV, that’s an afterthought – and a robust and functional structure. Think of it as a practical hatchback with high ground clearance and more versatility.

The new EcoSport was developed on Ford’s new global B-segment platform, which will be the basis for an array of new small-car products from Ford in the coming years. By mid-decade, the new Ford B-platform family of vehicles will represent more than 2 million units of annual production as compact cars continue to drive global growth.

Technical specs and further details will be revealed when the car goes on display at the 11th Annual Auto Expo in New Delhi.
