The new version of Renault Twingo RS 133 is gearing up for its launch in the British market in April. This fast little puppy dog starts at £13,565. For that you get more than just the new look, which by the way we don’t like. The 133 is also very well-equipped and delivers simple driving fun in spades.
The Twingo RS 133 comes with a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-banger with 133hp and 160Nm of torque. Performance figures are average – 0 to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds and top speed 125 mph – but as we know from the old Twingo Rs, it’s just damn fun to drive.
Visually, the 133 comes with a new grille design with four lights and a front bumper incorporating an F1-style blade. It also gets black rear spoiler, a special rear bumper incorporating a diffuser and aerodynamic extensions on the rear wheel arches. Inside the cabin you get Renaultsport yellow stitching on the steering wheel and seats, together with white detailing for the top of the steering wheel, seat backs and cushions, rev-counter surround and air conditioning controls.
Despite its impressive performance credentials, the revised Twingo Renaultsport 133 boasts CO2emissions of 150g/km, a saving of 3.2 per cent compared to its predecessor and improved fuel consumption of 43.5 mpg combined cycle, up by three per cent.
As for the equipments, you can count on 16” alloy wheels, Bluetooth™, cruise control, electric Gloss Black door mirrors, ESC (with on/off switch), speed limiter, extra tinted windows and tailgate, Renaultsport exhaust with chrome tailpipe, plus Twingo’s versatile independent sliding and folding rear seats.
Options include 17” Anthracite or Gloss Black alloy wheels for £500, curtain airbags for £250, metallic paint at £460, Renaultsport Liquid Yellow i.d. paint for £1,300, Renaultsport Monitor telemetry for £125 and Anthracite Style package – for the front blade, door mirrors covers and rear spoiler, priced at £150.
