Renault Alpine at Renault Alpine To Be Unveiled At Monaco GP

Looks like Monaco GP is turning into something more than a Formula 1 race. We had in the reports that McLaren is going to preview its new P12 hyper car at the event, and now check this out. The long-rumored modern-day Renault Alpine will be unveiled in concept form, on Friday, at the track. Codenamed A110-50, the Alpine is based on the Renault DeZir concept, and has 400bhp.

So 50 years after the birth of the original Alpine, Renault is bringing it back with a new model. It’s not yet confirmed if it will make it into production or not, but Renault wouldn’t go through all this just for a show car. And it’s been a while since we last saw a sports car from Renault, something that isn’t a hatchback anyway.

Another reason to believe Renault is not messing around with this concept car is the fact that they’ve been reviving all their traditional brands in recent years. Gordini is a good example. The badge returned to the lineup and enjoyed great success.

The only thing that is stopping us from fully believing the new Alpine is a production model, is the 3.5 liter, 400bhp, V6 engine mounted in the middle of the car inside a tubular chassis. Too fancy for a Renault!
