We already know that a 625-hp Lingenfelter Camaro ZL1 is capable of running the quarter mile in 11.03 seconds. It is pretty impressive, right until the moment you realize that a stock 580-hp ZL1 clocks 11.93 seconds. That is why Lingenfelter is currently hard at work trying to get their ZL1 into the 10s. The Showroom-standard ZL1 turned in an 11.93-second/116-mph quarter-mile elapsed time in Chevrolet engineers own test.
The interesting bit here is the fact that automatic ZL1 is faster than the manual. The manual version apparently ran an 11.96-second ET at 117 mph. Still, we wouldn’t trade the joy of driving a manual 580-hp muscle car for a few tenths of a second.

Camaro ZL1 can enjoy this time until the stock Shelby GT500, which recently found it out it actually makes 662 hp not 650, get to the dragstrip and set a time.
