Following an early preview, Renault dropped official details of the new facelifted Espace for its 2013 modelyear. The 28-year old Espace gets a funky new face in its new model, on the line with Renault’s new design language with signature headlights and front grille. It is also more dynamic, and thanks to a range of revised engines, it offers a significant reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Styling changes over the previous model are limited to the front-end design, but the new Espace also gets new ‘Hurlingham’ wheel trims and new ‘Monterey’ and ‘Dark Eptius’ alloy wheels. As a remarkable feature, the new car offers visible stitching for the dashboard and leather and Alcantara upholsteries. The car has seven real seats and a brightly lit interior thanks to a large opening sunroof.
The Espace being the ultimate family car, it comes with some little details that will make the life easier for the users. It features an innovative textile which repels water- and oil-based liquids. There’s also an option for a reversing camera, which given the size of the car is a must have commodity. What’s more, a DVD player complete with two seven-inch screens built into the back of the front head rests will keep the kids amused in the back seat.
2013 Renault Espace can be had with either a 2.0 dCi engine (M9R) with 130hp, 150hp and 175hp, or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine (F4Rt). Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are both offered. The diesel is expected to be th msot popular version, seeing as it has a CO2 rating of 150g/km and fuel consumption of 5.7 litres/100km in its most economical version.
New Renault Espace’s cabin layout is as modular as ever thanks to seat rails which enable the seats to be positioned exactly according to the needs of the moment. New Renault Espace’s interior can be rearranged at will to guarantee the highest level of comfort for up to seven occupants.
