Mazda has released a teaser video which at first seems to belong to the Takeri concept. But they are quick to let us know this is not the Takeri, but the all-new Mazda6 and the similarities are definitely intentional. That is great news, because given the Takeri, the new Mazda6 is going to be quite a looker. The car is based on the new KODO design language, which trades the famous smiley face of current Mazdas for a more dignified grille.
The new Mazda6 will also be SKYACTIV-enabled, and that means it gets a range of engines and technologies that reduce the fuel consumption and carbon emissions significantly, while making sure none of the charm and character of Mazda is lost. The car will also get, at least in some of its models, a sophisticated regenerative braking system Mazda calls the i-loop.
“The deeply sculpted face with sharp eyes gazing forward, defined by the chrome ‘signature wing’, instantly conveys to onlookers that this must be Mazda’s new flagship sedan“, says Akira Tamatani, Chief Designer of the new Mazda6.
