The word is out that Renault is working on a Sport Tourer – a sort of MPV version – of the new Clio. Now, for those who are not willing to wait to see the car in the official form, a designer from PS-Garage has come up with a very nice rendering. The render mixes what has been revealed in the spyshots, with the new styling cues already seen in the new-gen Clio hatchback. It does look pretty good for a car of this class.
As for the engines, the new Renault Clio comes with a new three-cylinder petrol turbocharged Energy TCe 90 engine. This three-cylinder, turbocharged 899cc unit comes with Stop&Start and delivers the performance of a normally-aspirated 1.4-litre powerplant. There is also a four-cylinder 1.5-litre engine with 220Nm of torque available from 1,750rpm, an increase of 20Nm over the current dCi 85, and the TCe 120 engine mated to six-speed EDC transmission (Efficient Dual Clutch).
Which one of these will actually make it to the Sport Tourer is yet to be revealed.
