For this episode of Head 2 Head show, Jonny Lieberman puts the new BMW M5 up against the finest version of Porsche Panamera, which is the GTS. The thing is, for this test Porsche Panamera Turbo would have been a better candidate. As Jonny himself points out, the Turbo has 550 horsepower, which is closer to the 560 horsepower output of the M5 F10. The GTS has a dismal 430 hp.

Still, Jonny believes the Panamera GTS is a finer sports saloon than the M5. He actually thrashes the M5 for being too technical, and not being as fun to drive as the Porsche. Granted, the Porsche might have a better sorted chassis, but in every other sense the BMW seems like the better choice. It’s better looking, it’s cooler, and it’s 40 grand cheaper than the Porsche. 40 grand!
