The new and improved Honda CR-Z will go on sale across the UK from January 2013. Prices start from £20,550 OTR for the Sport variant and £23,050 for the GT model. And as for the improvements, well, you get some subtle styling tweaks, and like 15 horsepower more than before.

That is basically all there is to the new CR-Z sports hybrid coupe, but to give you more details, the 1.5 liter VTEC engine gets a new software so it now makes 121hp, and the electric motor which now comes with Lithium-Ion battery instead of Nickel-Metal, is boosted to 20hp.

So you get 140hp total, there or thereabouts, and 190 Nm of torque. That means the 0-62 mph sprint time falls from 10.0 sec to 9.1 sec on the Sport model and 10.1 sec down to 9.5 sec on the GT. Still hardly impressive. And neither is the 124mph top speed.

One feature of the new car that at least sounds cool is the Sport Plus (S+) boost system. You push a button on the steering wheel, and it does something to the electric motor, giving you 10 seconds of extra boost.

Styling updates include revised bumpers with new frames and fog lamps at the front and diffuser at the back, new grille and 17-inch wheels, as well as two new colors.
