A few days ago Chevrolet took the wraps off their new NASCAR race machine for 2013 season. It is a particularly interesting car, because next year it will spawn a production model; a high-performance Chevrolet sedan sporting the legendary SS badge. Now in a video from the race car’s unveiling event, Chevy subtly teases the road-going version and shows us a bit more of it.

It doesn’t really matter what the new SS looks like, because let’s be honest Chevrolet design department is not the best in business, so you know it’s not gonna blow you away. It’ll probably be like a Malibu on steroids. With this high performance saloon car all that that matters in the engine. Chevy is yet t confirm this, but the word is it will get a version of the new Corvette’s 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine. In the ‘Vette it’ll make about 450 horsepower.
Chevrolet SS will be built on the VF Holden Commodore platform with rear wheel drive and rather sophisticated suspension. Think of it as a four-door Camaro SS.
