The next Detroit Motor Show debut we’re bringing to you is the Honda Urban SUV, a concept car that sometime in the near future will be turned into a compact crossover that you can buy. It will launch in Japan in late 2013, and in the U.S. in early 2014.
The Urban SUV is, naturally, shorter than the current CR-V, and has a rather uncontroversial design that looks virtually production-ready. Well, those LED headlights might look a bit too conceptual, but apart from that, it is ready to go.
The platform for this car belongs to Honda’s small city car Fit. The Urban SUV Concept represents the expansion of vehicles based on Honda’s Global Compact Series, which includes the Honda Fit subcompact and the Honda City subcompact sedan, a model sold in markets outside the United States.
No details yet on the interior – they just say it is modern and has configurable Magic Seat which is marketing talk for folding rear seats – or powertrains, but naturally it should get a range of Honda’s new Earth Dreams engines.
