Chrysler’s high-performance brand SRT announced a new lineup of tricked out cars at the Chicago Auto Show, known as the ‘Core’ Series. The Core models come with exclusive paint jobs, tuned powertrains, and special equipment. They offer ‘back-to-basics performance recipe’ according to SRT.
The Core treatment for the 2013 Challenger SRT8 adds stuff like new grille, 20-inch wheels, and some pretty brash paint jobs, including Orange Pearl Coat and Plum Crazy Pearl Coat. Inside you get new cloth seats with Viper-inspired inserts.
The 470-hp HEMI V8 in this car active intake manifold along with high-lift cam for more low-end torque. It does 0 to 60 in the high 4-second range, on its way to a top speed of 186 mph. Pricing starts at $38,995.
The Chrysler 300 SRT8 “Core” also gets 20-inch wheels, plus black Brembo brake calipers, and some exclusive badges. Ballistic cloth inserts from the SRT Viper and various matte carbon and piano black accents are among the highlights of the interior.
Engine-wise, it gets the same 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 delivering 470 horsepower as the Challenger, featuring standard Fuel Saver Technology and active exhausts. The top speed of this model is 174 mph, and it is priced from $43,995.
In addition to the Core models, SRT is also introducing a new Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee with the 392 HEMI engine. It matches the 300’s performance, but it’s priced at $41,995.
