This year’s Geneva Motor Show seems to all about Natural Gas-powered cars. Audi is bringing the A3 g-tron, and SEAT is introducing this Mii Ecofuel with a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder engine converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). This model has low running costs and is SEAT’s lowest-emitting production car ever.
The 1.0 liter engine in this car makes 68 PS and uses only 2.9 kg CNG/100 km corresponding to a CO2 figure of just 79 g/km. The Ecofuel’s low running costs is not only due to the price of CNG, but also the car’s starting price, which is just €12,050. It is hard to get more economical than that and maintain dignity!
Another advantage of this car is that it is in fact bi-fuel. You can run it on petrol as well, and that gives it an unmatched range in its class. With a full CNG tank (11 kg), the Mii Ecofuel has a range of up to 240 miles. There is also a 10 liter petrol tank acting as reserve, which gives another 140 miles. So you are looking at a total driving range of 380 miles or 610 kilometers.
