Now that the Mexican Mastretta sports car has gone viral – Thanks to Top Gear – another Mexican firm announced its intentions to make a super sports car. This specialty car maker is called VUHL (pronounced ‘vool’), and their first car, the VUHL 05, is set for 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed debut.

VUHL stands for Vehicles of Ultra- lightweight and High-performance and is established by Echeverria brothers who have a background in GT and Formula cars. They sound pretty serious about their new venture, and they seem to have all the bases covered for a flying start, having teamed up with some of the best names in the automotive business such as Magna Steyr, Multimatic, and Ford.

The VUHL 05 is said to be a road-legal lightweight super car, and it is a true global product. The chassis and everything related to it is put together in the UK; the body is made in Canada; the finished product is assembled in Mexico City by the Mexican/American firm; and they have a European HQ in Luxemburg.

Sounds like a pretty expensive operation to run, but VUHL seems confident they can pull it off. Said Iker: “We intend V?HL products to be renowned for their effective simplicity and aesthetics guided by a purity of function. The 05 and its successors will also be notable for uncompromising build quality, rigorous attention to detail and a driving experience par excellence.”
