At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed Peugeot’s booth is going to be among the most interesting. We never thought we’d say that about Peugeot, but they have come up with some seriously cool machines this past couple of months. Most of them are racing cars – LMP2 prototypes and 208 rally cars – but there are a couple of road-going models worth seeing.

One is of course the new 208 GTi, and the other is this, the Peugeot RCZ R. It is the ultimate version of the French coupe, inspired by the hugely successful Nurburgring 24 Hour race car. The RCZ R is powered by a 260 horsepower 1.6 liter turbo engine – the most powerful production model in Peugeot’s history.

The power, sadly, still goes to the front wheels. But Peugeot has fitted the car with a trick Torsen limited slip differential to subdue the side effects. Because of its small size, the THP engine in the RCZ R is quite economical, with a CO2 rating of 150 g/km.

A Peugeot RCZ R will be on display at Peugeot’s stand during the festival, while another example will be going up and down the famous hill in the hands of Peugeot factory driver Bradley Philpot.
