You are probably familiar with the Honda Brio, the Company’s compact global hatchback designed for the emerging markets in South East Asia. Well, it is now getting an MPV variant, which judging by the teaser sketch they’ve released, looks quite interesting.

To be unveiled, and later go on sale, in Indonesia in a few months, the Brio MPV blends the good qualities of the Brio hatchback with the practicality of a multi-purpose vehicle. It is instantly recognizable as a Brio fro the front, but the rear-end design in all new and all brilliant.

In fact, the car looks more like a sporty estate vehicle than an economy MPV. Honda has always been good at concealing practicality underneath a thick layer of style, and this car shows that best. It’s a shame then that the Brio is only limited to the Asian market.

A cheap, handsome, and practical car like this would go down in Europe really well, providing they give it a couple of modern and efficient engines. They don’t have to worry about the quality of the powertrain too much in the Asian market, since there is no EU legislation there to cope with. The Brio MPV will launch with a 1.5 liter gasoline engine.
