In an effort to enhance the fuel economy and therefore the appeal of its Malibu sedan, Chevrolet announced that the 2014 MY Malibu 2.5L model, launching this fall, will be fitted as standard with fuel-saving stop/start technology. It will be capable of an EPA-estimated 25 city and 36 highway mpg.
The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu 2.5L also benefits from valve-actuation technology known as Intake Valve Lift Control. It manages the timing of the valves to reduce fuel consumption while operating in in low-lift mode, and more grunt and power while the driver steps on the gas. This way you get the power you want when you want it, and save fuel the rest of the time.
The addition of stop/start system complements this feature to deliver a 14 percent improvement in city fuel economy. Also new for the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu 2.5L is a 6T45 transmission, also optimized for fuel efficiency by reducing the energy required to pump transmission fluid.
Other new features that are not related to fuel economy on the 2014 Malibu include revised front-end design, more spacious interior, revised center console, improved suspension setup, and the addition of Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features as optional extras.
Priced for the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu starts at $22,965, including an $825 destination charge.
