Following its European debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Corvette Stingray is now being tuned to the European market. And when you need to tune car for this place there is only one destination you go to: The Nurburgring.
Chevrolet says the Stingray is not going to set a lap time at this stage and it’s just being tested for suspension tuning and stuff like that. But if somewhere along the way they managed to pop in a good lap, they will indeed announce it to the public. After the ‘Ring sessions the two Corvette Stingray test cars will hit the European roads for some more adjustment and fine tuning.
Set to go on sale in Europe in a couple of months from now, the 2014 Corvette Stingray will launch in Europe with the Z51 Performance Package, which in addition to a subtle aero kit, adds some good stuff like uprated suspension, beefier brakes, an all-important limited-slip differential, and better wheels and tires.
The Stingray is powered by a new 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine developing 460 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to some serious fuel saving measures, GM reckons it will do well over 25 mpg is you drive responsibly.
