Peugeot revealed details of the new 308 range, going on sale in the UK from January 2014. Boasting a distinctive look and many standard-equipment features, as well as a range of fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines, the new 308 Lineup starts from £14,495.

While styling is a matter of opinion, the 2014 Peugeot 308 looks refreshingly different than all the other family hatchbacks out there. It is not outlandish like the Focus, but it is unique, and kinda cool. LED daytimers are standard, but range topping models get 17 and 18 inch wheels which help with the looks.

The 2014Peugeot 308 will be available with five petrol and HDi diesel engines, including the ultra-frugal 1.6 liter 92 HDi with CO2 emissions of just 93g/km. You also get the new three-cylinder 1.2-litre e-THP with a choice of 110 or 130bhp, which is quite fizzy and peppy, but not very economical for a three-cylinder!

As for the features and equipment, well, that’s where the 308 earns its money. All New 308s, starting with the Access model, feature a high level of standard equipment that includes air conditioning, remote central door locking, cruise control with speed limiter, DAB digital radio, LED daylight running lights and Bluetooth connectivity.

Next trim level Active adds standard dual zone air conditioning, electric handbrake, rear parking sensors, integrated 9.7” touch screen and satellite navigation. After that we have the Allure that is distinguished by innovative full LED headlamps, 17” alloy wheels, a reversing camera and front parking sensors.

The Feline is the top-of-the-range model, featuring a panoramic Cielo glass roof, Alcantara trimmed sports seats and the Driver Assistance Pack with an impressive collection of driver assistance and safety devices: Dynamic Cruise Control, Emergency Collision Alert and Emergency Collision Braking System.
