Yesterday the first properly revealing spy photo of the new 2015 Ford Mustang hit the web, giving us a good idea of what the production version will look like. Now comes the first proper rendering of the new car based on that image.

And it looks even more like a Fusion Coupe than the real picture itself. By taking away the traditional headlights again, Ford is taking away the Mustang’s identity. They did this once before and ended up with an absolutely rubbish car that everybody hated. This time though, they say the car will have a ‘global’ design, hence the more conventional and less exclusive design.

What they have in mind for the car’s mechanical bits is even more disastrous than the looks. Sure, you will still get the V8 and Shelby models in America – albeit with Eco-tuned motors – but for Europe they are talking about an EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. The only promising bit of news about the 2015 Ford Mustang is that the live rear axle is finally being ditched after half a century and some clever independent system is taking its place.
