Jota Mazda MX-5 GT Revealed

Following yesterday’s news of the Mazda MX-5 GT emerging as a kit, Jota, the racing partner of the Japanese car maker, announced the launch of this car in the UK, available to order as a complete car with all the important goodies of the concept car, priced at £29,995.

Jota Mazda MX-5 GT gets the punchy and muscular look of the MX-5 GT concept thanks to flared wheel arches, a set of big black wheels, black accenting all over the boy including black mirror caps, a rear carbon fiber diffuser, and lowered suspension. What lies under the bonnet, however, is the meat of the program.

Jota Mazda MX-5 GT is based on the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre Sport Tech. It is well equipped and well-trimmed inside, but its engine may feel a bit underpowered at times, since it only makes about 150 horsepower. What Jota does is boots that output to 203 horsepower, which results in greater performance, which translates into greater driving fun.

The tricked-out engine will enable the little MX-5 to go from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is 1.5 seconds faster than the standard car. The top speed is still limited to 140 mph, but the handling and driving experience should be even better in this car, seeing as it is fitted with Bilstein dampened suspension.

Jota Mazda MX-5 GT also features leather Recaro seats and will come in three colours, white pearl, true red and aluminium silver metallic, all with a brilliant black roof and anthracite alloy wheels. Optional extras include a carbon rear boot lip spoiler, a carbon front splitter and Jota’s road and track Öhlins suspension kit.
