At the L.A. Auto Show Chevrolet revealed a new version of the Sonic. It is the RS version of the Sonic Sedan, joining the hatchback model, injecting a shot of adrenalin into the Sonic’s otherwise numb and boring character. It comes with sporty features inside and out, and a revised chassis.
2014 Chevrolet Sonic RS Sedan is powered by an Ecotec 1.4L turbo engine rated at 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft of torque (200 Nm). What sets it apart from the normal models is a sport-tuned lowered suspension that in combination with unique transmission gearing result in a sporty driving feel.
Even though the Sonic RS is a playful little car, it still manages to average an EPA estimated 27 mpg city and 34 mpg highway with the manual transmission.
Visually, the car comes with a revised front fascia that gives it a more aggressive, sort of road-hugging appearance. Inside, you get aluminum sport pedals; sport three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel with contrasting stitching, and a racing-inspired flat-bottom design; and leather-appointed front bucket seats with red RS accents.
The RS treatment also includes a number of exclusive colors including Black Granite Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic and Summit White.
