Going back to their rally roots and trying to relive the glory days of the original Clio Renaultsport R3 of 2006, Renault announced the launch of a new rally program with the Clio R3T. When approved in 2014, the Clio R3T will join the Twingo Renaultsport R2 Evo, Twingo Renaultsport R1 and the Mégane Renaultsport N4 to reinforce Renault’s strong rally range.
Renault Clio R3T Rally Car is based on the Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC hot hatch, and just like its predecessor that offered Super 1600-like performance at a fraction of the cost, it comes as a kit fully compliant with the FIA R3 regulations.
The 1.6 liter turbocharged standard engine in the Clio RS has been tuned for use in the R3T rally car and fitted with a Sadev six-speed sequential gearbox (with paddle shifters in the Asphalt version), Sachs shock absorbers, PFC brakes and Cosworth electronics.
These parts alone guarantee superb performance on gravel or tarmac, but Renaultsport engineers have spent countless hours testing and fine-tuning the components to make sure they are also reliable. That is why Renault rally cars are very cost effective.
