Honda is increasing its involvement in Touring Car racing, first with the Civic Tourer BTCC racer, and now this, the new 2014 Civic WTCC contender. This is a visual presentation of the actual racing car that will take part in the series next season, showing off the car’s official livery.
JAS Motorsport will run two Honda Civic WTCC cars with Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro racing for private outfits Zengo Motorsport and Proteam Racing for Hungary’s Norbert Michelisz and Moroccan Mehdi Bennani respectively. They will sure spice up the competition.
Technical details of race cars are usually well-kept secrets, so Honda doens’t really get into it. They do however point out that the WTCC Civic features a proper body kit with sleeker aero package and extended rear spoiler, as well as wheel arch extensions, larger diameter wheels, and increased power over the previous versions.
Honda’s first goal for this car is to retain their Manufacturers World Championship crown. They also have ambitious goals for their drivers, setting their sight on the World Champion title.
