Glickenhaus SCG 003 Teaser 600x330 at Glickenhaus SCG 003 Race Car Teased

American billionaire Jim Glickenhaus is a well-known figure in the automotive world. As a collector and Ferrari aficionado, he had his Enzo turned into a bespoke coachbuilt car, which led to the P4/5 Competizione and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus racing team, and now this, the Glickenhaus SCG 003.

The team announced Glickenhaus’ intention to race at the 2014 Nurburgring 24 Hour event with the car you see in the teaser sketch above. It is called the Glickenhaus SCG 003, and it’s been designed and developed by GranStudio.

The engineering firm has its work cut out with the SCG, as Glickenhaus wants a car that is not only aerodynamically and mechanically perfect, but also looks iconic and innovative. The final design is what you see here, and most of the engineering work is also done.

The team will start building the car in early 2014 in hope to make it ready for display at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Glickenhaus SCG 003 features a lightweight carbon fiber chassis that sets new standards in terms of stiffness and lightness, and it’s powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine.

Lowie Vermeersch, CEO and Creative Director of GranStudio added: “this type of project is any designer’s dream. Not only it is an exciting project that allows to design a car inside out, but it also offers this rare and beautiful condition in which you develop a full car with just a small team of passionate experts that fit together in a room.”
