Peugeot 308 SW 0 600x389 at New Peugeot 308 SW Revealed

Months before its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Peugeot released the first details and pictures of the new estate version of its 308. This is actually a very timely reveal, as it coincides with the launch of the new 308 hatchback in the European market.

When it launches in spring, the new Peugeot 308 SW will be competing in the small estate market in Europe, which is a tough segment full of good-looking, practical cars delivering great value for money. To ensure the 308 will have a fighting chance, Peugeot designers equipped the car with a huge 610 dm3 boot.

Despite boasting such generous amount of space, the 308 SW remains a stylish and classy car – just like its hatchback sister. The car has lots of fancy lines and curves on its body that make it look anything but boring. On the inside though, it’s all about simplicity. The rear seats fold completely flat with a single action from inside the boot. Sounds trivial, but it’s a very useful feature.

Peugeot 308 SW is also very economical, as you’d expect from a modern family car. It is 140 kg lighter than the model that went before, thanks to Pug’s ‘Efficient Modular Platform’ (EMP2), and comes with a range of fuel-efficient, EU6-compliant petrol and diesel engines – there is a BlueHDi version that emits just 85g/km of CO2.

Pricing and specs of the new Peugeot 308 SW will be revealed closer to launch. Being a Peugeot, the car will almost certainly have a reasonable price. And, on paper at least, it seems to have all the bases covered for a good little estate car. Things are looking good.
