Renault revealed the new generation of Twingo super mini in a virtual striptease on the web. Inspired by the legendary Renault 5 and the original Twingo, the new car is developed jointly with Daimler using their Smart platform, and features distinctive looks and a rear-engine layout.

That’s right. The new Renault Twingo is rear-engined like a Porsche 911. This not only frees up the front end and considerably improves the turning circle, it has a profound effect on the handling and driving fun. The car doesn’t corner so much as scamper from bend to bend.

What’s more, the interior space has benefited from this unique architecture as well. The five-door Twingo has a surprisingly good amount of space in the back relative to its compact size.

Being a small and cutesy sort of car, 2015 Renault Twingo comes with a range of vibrant colors – light blue, white, yellow and red – and stripes and graphics packages.

The front-end is dominated by Renault’s new corporate look including an oversized badge and narrow grille, while the back-end is styled to look like the rear-engined Renault 5 Turbo of the olden days. Exterior trim features like the door mirrors, side protective mouldings and decals are all customizable by the owner.

Details of the powertrain and the specifications of the 2015 Renault Twingo are yet to be revealed. The car will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but Renault has promised to show us the interior before that on March 4.
