Mazda Hazumi 600x400 at Mazda Hazumi Subcompact Announced for Geneva Debut

As expected, Mazda will unveil the next-generation Mazda2 subcompact city car with the new Hazumi concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Judging by the teaser picture they’ve released, the smallest offspring of the Kodo design language appears to be a scaled down version of the Mazda3.

Mazda Hazumi (Hazumi means “bound” or “spring up” in Japanese), has exactly the same headlight and grille design as the 6 and 3. Mazda3 owners are not going to like the fact that their rather expensive premium hatchback looks pretty much the same as a small and cheap subcompact.

It all started with the CX-5 crossover, previewed by the Minagi concept, and continued with the Mazda6, the production version of the Takeri concept.

Mazda Hazumi 2 will also present a new engine, a SKYACTIV-D 1.5 clean diesel unit that celebrates its debut at Geneva,
