Ram Trucks announced the launch of a new Power Wagon version of the 2500 Heavy Duty 4×4 Crew Cab, designed to be the ultimate pick-up truck in the American market. Ram Power Wagon is said to be “the most off-road-capable pickup” featuring bespoke chassis and suspension tuned for the job.
2014 Ram Power Wagon is powered by Chrysler’s renowned 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 with 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine comes with variable-valve timing (VVT) and cylinder deactivation system, so it’s not as thirsty as you might think.
The versatile drivetrain consists of a 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission and a part-time, manual-engagement Borg Warner BW 44-47 transfer case, plus a four-wheel-drive system with high and low modes.
Robust, upgraded axles featuring electronic locking differentials and front axle disconnect system, combined with the bespoke suspension including Bilstein shocks, control arms, spring rates and more than two inches of lift, 14.5-inch ground clearance, and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires will give the Ram Power Wagon 4×4 its awesome off-road capabilities.
2014 Ram Power Wagon is also a very well-equipped truck, fitted with the latest safety, comfort and convenience features. The exterior design does not seem to be a good match for the truck’s capabilities though. They could have make look a bit more, well, dramatic. It’s got a HEMI engine, after all.
