Order books will soon open in America for the new Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition, a celebratory special edition built to mark an important milestone in the car’s life. Limited to just 100 units and only available as a Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT) model, the Anniversary Edition X-5 is priced at $32,205.
A standard 2015 Mazda MX-5 will cost you $23,970 for the soft-top and $28,665 for the hard-top version. So although the Anniversary model comes with a couple of extras and is kind of unique, the price difference is still hard to swallow. You should also take into account that next year an all-new MX-5 is coming, making this version obsolete.
But that’s then. For now let us see what makes this Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition tick. For starters, it comes with a custom-crafted Tourneau watch and display winder box, which is cool. What’s more, you actually get performance upgrades, and they are deep, sophisticated upgrades like hand-selected pistons, connecting rods and flywheel for better response and acceleration.
Visually, Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition comes exclusively in deep Soul Red Metallic exterior coat with A-pillars, windshield surround, outside mirrors and a standard PRHT in contrasting Brilliant Black. 17-inch wheels are standard, as are Almond leather seats and door trim with a satin chrome finish, Piano Black interior accents, red stitching, and aluminum pedals.
