The test team from Motorsport Magazine recently got hold of the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI and immediately ran into a problem. They were looking for a car to compare the STI to, something in the same league performance-wise, and having the same practical features. The best car they could find was the Audi S3.

So they pitted the STI against the mighty German in a head to head 0 to 250 km/h acceleration test. Here’s what happened:

2015 Subaru WRX STI is powered by a 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine and comes with Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, Active Torque Control, and Brembo Performance Brake System with Super Sport ABS. That is a pretty unbeatable setup for a sports sedan. Audi S3, on the other hand, has a 2.0 TFSI engine with 300 hp and 380 Nm, quattro permanent all-wheel drive, and six-speed S tronic transmission.
