Even though Chrysler has practically killed off the SRT brand, they are going to continue naming distinguishing their sporty models with the same designation as before. Changing all those names at this stage would be confusing for the customers. So cars like the Cherokee SRT will live on, and the Dart is finally getting a SRT treatment. But the Viper is once again a Dodge and they have some plans for it.
Thanks to SRT’s strategies the Viper is not in a very good shape these days, suffering from sluggish sales and totally demoralized as far as its social image goes. So the company is planning a revised version, a Dodge Viper Facelift if you will, for launch in 2015. No details are available at this point, but you can expect the car to become faster, better-looking and more refined.
The new plan also calls for the launch of Dodge Dart SRT, a sporty version of the compact sedan powered by a high-output four-cylinder turbo engine and boasting all-wheel-drive. You can also count on revised styling thanks to a SRT styling kit. Dodge is confident the SRT version will give the Dart a whole new image.
Other good things planned for the next few years include killing off the awful Avenger later this year and the Gran Caravan next year.
