2015 Mazda MX-5 is one of those cars that we have had many renderings of ever since it became clear that its KODO-inspired design is going to be similar to the rest of Mazda’s new products, the 3 and the 6. Here’s a new one, and one that is quite possibly offers the most realistic depiction of the car yet.

Now, you might be thinking that this looks way too much like the Mazda3, and it does. But that is what the finished product is going to look like. KODO design language, unfortunately, is not a very flexible one. There is only so much you can do with a design language that is inspired by nature’s most vicious predators.

So what else do we know about the 2015 Mazda MX-5? Well, we know that it is going to be, incredibly, a tiny bit smaller than the current version, and a whole lot lighter as well. That is, of course, thanks to SKYACTIV technology and new production technologies. We also know that it will be getting new 1.5 liter and 2.0 liter engines.

What we do not know is what is going to happen with the Alfa Romeo Spider that was supposed to share the MX-5’s chassis and suspension. That, to be honest, is a more interesting prospect. We will find out about both cars later this year.
