Well, here’s proof that Ariel Atom can be used for other purposes than devouring race tracks! Ariel has teamed up with Avon and Somerset Constabulary to create a one-off Atom PL Police car to promote Safer Rider campaign for motorcyclists.

Of course, the Atom’s unique shape does not really lend itself to such treatment, so there have been compromises in order to make the Ariel Atom Police Car happen. Because the car has no body work as such, the Police livery is all over the place, and the position of the lights bar and the siren on top of the air intake is just hilarious.

Still, Ariel Atom Police Car works perfectly fine as a show car to raise awareness among motorcyclists about road safety. Bikers represent one-in-five of the people killed on UK roads. What’s more, the Atom is the only four-wheeled vehicle that can keep up with a fast bike, so it’s all relevant.

Ariel director Simon Saunders said: “We’re just about to launch an all new Ariel motorcycle and we want our bikes and customers to be as safe as they possibly can be as well, so this message is important to us. There’s always one certain loser in a motorcycle collision and that’s the motorcyclist.”
