Lexus RC F Solar Flare Spotted in the Wild

When Lexus announced a Facebook campaign to name orange color they’d come up with for the RC F, and then waited months for the results to come in, we thought it was all very pointless. I mean, why the hell a color needs a special name anyway? Now though, we get to see the car under the sun, in real life. And, well, now it makes sense. This color does look rather special!

Lexus RC F Solar Flare comes in a bright shade of orange that shines and shimmers when sunshine hits it, giving the impression the car is fast even when it’s standing still. This color is probably an answer to BMW’s Sakhir Orange which was widely used for the special editions of the E92 M3.

BMW has replaced that color with Austin yellow and Monaco Blue for the new M4 and M3, but the fact remains Lexus RC F is a deadly rival for Bimmer’s sports saloons, especially the M4. The Solar Flare is complemented with gloss black front spoiler and grille, and naked carbon fiber for the roof and rear spoiler.

The RC F is powered by a 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 450 horsepower. It is not only more powerful and more responsive than the straight-six turbo in the BMW, it also sounds quite a lot nicer. The M4 is going to have to rely on its superb handling and nicer looks – and of course, its badge – to win the day.
