American sports car maker Panoz has been teasing us with the new 25th Anniversary Edition of the Esperante Spyder for the past couple of months. They are now ready to reveal the car in full glory, and will do so next week at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival at the Monterey Jet Center.
Panoz Esperante Spyder 25th Anniversary is a celebratory model paying homage to the company’s motorsports heritage and Panoz sports cars of the past 25 years. The main highlights of the new sports car include super formed aluminum body panels, aluminum chassis, and an all-aluminum modular V8 engine.
This extensive use of aluminum, complemented with carbon fiber, means Panoz Esperante Spyder is a lightweight, tipping the scale at just 3,128 pounds. Powertrain packages available for this car offer from 430 to 560 horsepower and beyond. A full-fay version should be able to do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, reach a top speed of 172 mph, and run the quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds.
Prices for Panoz Esperante Spyder start from $179,120 for the 25th Anniversary Edition Spyder and $204,750 for the Spyder GT version. Customers can add a range of interior options such as wood or metal trim and Alcantara accents on the seats, dash, door panels, center console, and as inserts on the Spyder’s carbon fiber Spyder shell, but that will cause the already hefty price tag to swell even further.
