If you are into hot hatchbacks, you really are spoiled for choice. Almost all car makers offer something in this category these days in all sorts of shape and all sorts of power. Now Peugeot has just made your decision to choose the right hot hatch harder by introducing the new 308 GT.

And it’s not like there is only one Peugeot 308 GT that you can choose and that would be it. The car comes in hatchback and SW forms, and with diesel and petrol powertrains. So if you are sensible you go for the diesel SW wagon version, and if you are like normal, you get the petrol-powered hatchback.

Whichever way you go you get a number of features all Peugeot 308 GT models share. They include lowered ride height, unique design features and high specification compared to the normal 308s, and a new and exclusive ‘Magnetic Blue’ paint job. Notable features of the interior include red stitching on the dashboard, door panels, gear lever gaiter and floor mats, aluminium detailing on the pedals, and stainless steel sill finishers in the door apertures.

The petrol engine available for the 308 GT is the four-cylinder 1.6-litre THP 205 horsepower Stop&Start with 285 Nm of torque mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It is capable of 50 mpg. If it’s economy you are after, though, you should get the 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 diesel as it does over 70 mpg. Power output for the diesel unit is 180 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque – not bad at all.

2015 Peugeot 308 GT will make their official debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in October.
