Nobody in the automotive world seem to knew that Ferrari LaFerrari does actually have a pure electric, zero emission mode. We admit we didn’t. But in our defense, we didn’t get to drive the LaFerrari, and all the reviews we saw of it said the electric motor in this hybrid hyper car is there just as a backup for the V12 petrol engine.
What we see in this video, however, clearly shows that Ferrari LaFerrari is indeed capable of running on electricity. Well, unless the owner of this car had the knowledge and expertise to modify his car so it can run only using the electric motor, which is of course very unlikely.
Both of the LaFerrari’s rivals – McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 – have this electric only capability. It is pathetic in both those cars, as it is good for only about 20 miles or so, but they do have it. So maybe Ferrari at first didn’t think the LaFezza would need this system but then changed their mind. In any case, LaFerrari’s electric only range is probably even more terrible that the other hyper cars. Not that it matters, of course. What are these, city runabout?!
