Another Hot Wheels car comes to life at this year’s SEMA show thanks to a joint project by Ford, Mattel and Bandito Brothers. It is the Hot Wheels Rip Rod, first shown as a plastic model car at last year’s show, now built as a real car powered by Ford’s EcoBoost engine.
The engine in Hot Wheels Rip Rod is the award-winning 1.0 liter EcoBoost unit which in its relatively short life has won the engine of the year award three times in a row, rising to glory by offering an unbeatable blend of performance and efficiency. They are using it in single-seater race cars these days.
Beside releasing the teaser video you see here, Ford and Hot Wheels have not released any further details on the Rip Rod yet. But you can rest assured this year this bad boy won’t be sitting on a trailer behind a Ford Transit. It’s going to raise hell at SEMA!
