For the past 50 years, give or take, the Mustang and the Camaro have been at each other’s throats, engaging in fierce battles for the title of the best muscle car. These are the latest warriors they are sending to the battlefield – the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and the latest Camaro SS.

Both equipped with the most aggressive handling packages available with their respective performance packs, Ford Mustang GT and Camaro SS are put through a battery of tests on the road and track by Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago and his trusty racing driver mate, Randy Pobst:

As always, the Mustang appears to be better prepared for the fight. For one thing, it is newer and much more up to date a the Camaro. But there is a new Camaro coming soon which could balance things out. As it is though, the Camaro is going to have a tough time beating the mighty Ford in the showrooms. Then again, it has been the case for the past half century. GM has probably got used to it by now!

Both these cars are powered by V8 engines with around 430 horsepower and both are rear-wheel-drive and can be ordered with manual or automatic gearbox. The Ford has a slightly more modern suspension system and electronic systems, and it benefits from better looks and a more refined interior.
