2016 Ford GT Spyder Imagined

Like it or not, the new 2016 Ford GT is going to keep making headlines for the foreseeable future. We looked at the car itself in details, and earlier today we showed you a rendering of it in the Gulf livery. Now let’s check out the imaginary Ford GT Spyder, the open-top version.

Granted, this Ford GT Spyder is more like a Targa top version than a full-blown convertible. But the GT is a proper super car. And there is only so much you can do with a super car in terms of styling alterations. Take the Alfa 4C, for example. To make the 4C Spider, Alfa took out only a portion of the roof and redesigned the back of the car compensate.

Not that any of what we just said matters, because a drop-top Ford GT is not on the cards. The hardtop will make it into the production line sometime in 2016, but don’t hold your breath for a Spyder version. That’s a pity really, because it looks quite good, at least in this rendering, and the idea of wind-in-hair motoring is always hugely appealing; especially when you have 600 horsepower to play with.
